Thank you, friends, for watching and working for North Dakota Today. It was a beautiful March day to talk about the community behind Heidi Muus, my Nice People of the Week, as well as a gentleman in search of baseball caps.

“James is an amazing person! He is an incredibly articulate advocate for the disabled community in Grand Forks and has testified before legislators in Bismarck, St Paul and Washington DC-advocating for funding for disabled programs of all kinds. If you come to the LISTEN Center on any Friday night from 6-8 pm, you will find “DJ James Brown” playing all kinds of music from the DJ booth for the 80-90 disabled people that gather every Friday night for a time to just let loose and enjoy themselves.

If you were to sit and visit with James, his ‘advocacy’ voice would kick in and he would tell you that the developmentally disabled population aren’t looking for any special treatment, they just wanted to be accepted for who they are-just as we do.

If you have a hat for James, please leave it at the front desk of the LISTEN Center M-F from 8-4 or come to the Friday night dance between 6-8 and James will be there, playing what the crowd wants to hear-and happy to add their hats to his collection.”
