Here is an interesting fact about art: it used to be an Olympic event. Here’s another fact: Grand Forks is hosting TWO fantastic art events this weekend. Check it out:
The opening reception for the latest Arts for Vets show is today – Friday, June 7, starting at 5PM. The show will feature surrealist artist Mandy Smestad, and will be available through June 30 at 215 North Third Street. From Arts for Vets: Works of women, still life, and life inspired by Mandy’s unique, and color-filled life. Mandy is the recipient of ERA International Woman’s Exhibit “Inspire Inclusion” Show Award. Limited Edition posters of her work, “Rainbow Woman,” will be available, along with original works and prints.
For the – what, 9 millionth? – year, Art Fest will be this Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9. Art Fest is free and showcases 100 artists, musicians, and food vendors in University Park. The musical acts begin at 11AM on Saturday and 10AM on Sunday. This year will also include a Chalk Art Competition on Sunday. For more details, click here.
