Do you like food? Do you like Thursdays? Do you like nice people? If you answered yes to one or more of the following questions, I have just the thing for you – it’s the Citywide Cookouts in Minto, North Dakota!
The fantastic Mikki Charboneau Wolf provided me with some information – check it out, pick a Thursday to go to Minto (a schedule is below), and have a wonderful time!
Whaaat’s going on in Minto?
We have yearly City Wide Cookouts on Thursdays through a good part of the summer. The “hosting” group for each particular event hosts and serves that event. At the end of the summer, all monies collected are divided equally to the “host organizations” that participated! It’s an easy way to raise money for their organizations. Great food! Great cooks! And a super way to meet people throughout the area and make new friends!
I don’t live in Minto. Can I attend?
Anyone is welcome! You don’t have to bring anything. Come hungry and enjoy the company of a friendly community while you eat great food on the streets of Minto. The event is a free will donation, and we take cash or checks.
Anything else we should know?
In 2013, Minto broke the world record for the largest serving of chili con carne at one of these Cookouts. Volunteers cooked a pot of 2,240 pounds of chili, breaking the previous Guinness World Records’ record of 1,430 pounds, all the while raising $10,000 for the host organizations. We are very proud of that accomplishment!
