Thank you, friends, for watching and working for North Dakota Today. It was a snowy and blowy January day to talk about Dr. Kari Torkelson, my Nice Person of the Week, as well as an interesting fact about North Dakota.
As promised, here are the links for VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) Minnesota: voshminnesota.org and the North Dakota School for the Blind Foundation: ndschoolfortheblindfoundation.com. In the words of Dr. Torkelson, “I’m not sure I would consider it a surprise but there is a saying that you get more from giving than receiving. I find that to be so very true. Volunteering allows me to help others and that gives me great satisfaction. I’m never doing any of these things on my own, so I meet other people who want to help and when I see how two weeks or two hours out of my life can benefit someone else lifts my spirits.”
