“Stuff that makes you say, “Oh, for nice”

North Dakota Today | David Olson and Sweet Street (plus a few Asheville resources)

Thank you to the lovely people who work for and watch North Dakota Today – it was a gloriously warm fall day to talk about David Olson, my Nice Person of the Week, as well as a nonprofit bringing sweets and community support to Grand Forks.

For more information on all of the great programming (and to meet David in person!) at the Lake Region Public Library, click here.

To learn more about Sweet Street, click here and here.

As I noted in the segment, here are a few places you can donate to directly help Asheville. I have also included a couple of resources if you have friends or family in the county:

  • The Cajun Navy has been there for several days pulling people out. They have a donation link.
  • Carolina Response is made up of volunteers has also been there for several days pulling people out (their request list is 1,700 people). They have a fundraising page.
  • Mountain Mule Packers are pack mule-ing in resources. They have a Venmo.
  • Pisgah Brewing was one of the first to hand out free water. Click here.
  • For those of you who have family in Buncombe County, tell them to turn on Disaster Roaming by going Settings > Connections > Under mobile network settings make sure roaming is enabled. My sister did this and we went from spotty/no communication to regular texting.
  • If you are searching for someone in Buncombe County, click here.

I hope you enjoy this week’s North Dakota Today segment, which you can watch by clicking the image below. Have a happy week!

Hi, I’m Amanda Kosior

North Dakota Nice is filled with stories about people being awesome because I love people – and also a weekly story about me because I love me, too. I hope you find something that makes you feel good, and I especially hope you have a great day.
