Tie on your bonnets and boots and hitch up your aprons and wagons – it’s time for a good ol’ fashioned threshing bee!
The South Central Threshing Association will be hosting its 50th Threshing Bee on September 6 and 7, 2025 in Braddock, North Dakota. This town of 16 grows to more than 1,000 people each day for the tractor parade, demonstrations, food, and music. Camping space is available if you want to make a trip of it, and the schedule of events is available at the bottom of this page.
Additionally, thank you to the helpful folks at the Association for a bit more information:
Can anyone attend? If yes, what should a first-timer know?
Anyone can attend and generations are encouraged to attend together so that memories of growing up can be shared. A first timer should be prepared to be amazed!
There is a “people mover” that will help give a tour of the grounds and will stop and let people off at the demonstrations.
Come hungry as the burgers are excellent. The fry bread comes from a proven recipe and is homemade.
A map of the grounds will be available when they enter. There are many unique demonstrations. Not only is there threshing, but also a village of buildings preserved from the past to display unique items. The event features a blacksmith shop, church, stationary engine display, horse drawn rake, saw mill, and shingle mill as well as corn chopping, baling, rock crushing and other demonstrations.
Anyone can join in and pitch a bundle (bring your bake fork). Anyone can also bring their tractor. We encourage people to bring and share their equipment and or we are always looking for people to share and demonstrate their equipment and skill of the past.
What are you most looking forward to?
The Threshers enjoy seeing grandparents and parents sharing memories with their younger generations their memories of using the equipment. We also love seeing tractor/machinery owners and the pride their have in their prized possession of the past.
Have fun!
