“Stuff that makes you say, “Oh, for nice”

North Dakota Today | Project Prom and Unique Eats and Eateries

Thank you to the lovely people who work for and watch North Dakota Today – it was a Happy Monday of a morning to talk about free prom fineries and North Dakota’s hidden dining scene.

Students in the Fargo/West Fargo/Moorhead area can pick up dresses and suits on March 10 at the next Sheyenne High School Prom Shop. If a student can’t make the event but still needs prom attire, please email the counseling department here. The program’s biggest need is for clothing racks, and dresses sized 00-0 and 16+.

Students in the Grand Forks area should head on over to Northern Roots Boutique where they will be giving away dresses for the next week. If students would prefer to set up an appointment, email owner Kay Derry here. Here’s what Kay had to say about the program:

“As the owner of a women’s clothing boutique, I have the chance to not only improve the appearance of women, but also boost their self-esteem and confidence, regardless of their size. I wanted to extend this opportunity to high school girls in our community by providing them with the chance to attend prom and feel like royalty. I am dedicated to giving back to the community through various initiatives such as donating to local organizations like the Salvation Army’s back-to-school drive, collecting clothes and personal care items for CVIC’s clients, and supporting causes like Special Olympics, Bio Girls, ND Vision Services/School for the Blind , and UND Pancratz Career Development Center’s Freeman Professional Closet. These experiences have shown me the need in our community and have motivated me to give back to those who may not have the means to attend prom and purchase a dress. With two daughters of my own, I understand the feeling of having dresses that will never be worn again, which is why I opened up the opportunity for friends and customers to donated their dresses as well.  I am so grateful for the support of our community and my amazing team, they always come through when I do a project!”
