Ruso doubles its population from 2 to 4 (Bismarck Tribune)
Ruso, North Dakota’s smallest city, is located McLean County and is on the verge of dissolution. Per North Dakota Century Code, a community needs three residents to be incorporated, and mayor Bruce Lorenz – one of three Ruso residents – passed away in July. Fortunately, Greg and Michelle Schmaltz are making the move from Velva this fall to “keep it going for Bruce’s sake,” in the words of Laurinda Roloson, who also lives in Ruso with her husband, Terry.
Best-selling author Dwight Jon Zimmerman returns to Devils Lake (Devils Lake Journal)
Dwight Jon Zimmerman, graduate of Devils Lake High School, is a Number-One New York Times best-selling and and award-winning author of more than a dozen books and hundreds of comic book stories, a radio host, and a movie and television producer. Dwight will be back in the area through September 5 visiting his mother, and will be speaking and signing books around Devils Lake.
Valley City elementary students spends a day focused on kindness (Valley City Times-Record)
Youth Frontiers mission is “to provide schools with experiences that inspire character, civility, and community,” and does so with retreats focused on lifelong values. Elementary children in Valley City recently spent a day with Youth Frontiers working on kindness and respect.
