As the largest and only research-based youth development organization in North Dakota, the 4-H program – managed by NDSU Extension – provides learn-by-doing experiences to help children ages 8-18 develop skills and values that will carry them for the rest of their lives – including an international shoe drive to help those who normally wouldn’t be able to afford shoes on their own.
It is National Suicide Prevention Week. According to an article in the Minot Daily News, the suicide rate in North Dakota has increased by over 70% in the last 10 years – so let’s talk about an organization that wants to be a part of the conversation of a more open, well North Dakota.
North Dakotans aren’t known for wearing our hearts on our sleeves – which is why it’s so important that we are constantly looking for new or unique ways to connect with and support one another. Enter Dickinson Fit Moms, a fantastic Facebook group for western North Dakotan parents created to help one another stay mentally healthy by encouraging and aiding one another through #momlife.
