Nice news of the day – November 19, 2019

Congratulations to 6’10” North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Jon Godread, who has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the World’s Tallest Politician!

And hey, do you know what patriotic donuts, books for little kiddles, and Narcan have in common?  They are all in today’s news.  Read on.

Schools in Mandan, Bismarck, and Minot tried out a new program this year.  Called Raising a Reader, it allowed families with kids 0-5 years old to check out a bag of books from the school every week to help spark the joy of reading.  And, unsurprisingly, it’s been a huge success. (KX Net)

If you read the national news, you’ll know that Narcan – the lifesaving drug given during a drug overdose – is horded in big cities because they don’t have access to enough of it.  North Dakota doesn’t want that to happen here, so they will have provided 7,395 doses by the end of the year. I mean, there’s never a wrong time to eat a donut – but when you’re oversees on active military duty is very, very right. (KFYR TV)
