We all know that the Marquis de Mores founded Medora (and named it after his wife), but did you know that the Marquis invented meatpacking? Instead of sending cattle to the slaughterhouse in Chicago, he’d process the meat in North Dakota and pack it in boxcars with ice before delivering it to homes in Illinois.
