Bismarck State receives $100,000 grant to help train rural nursing students (Bismarck Tribune)

Simulation training has become a critical tool in educating healthcare professionals; however, the mannequins and equipment can run into the ten’s of thousands of dollars.  Until now, nursing students in Hazen, Harvey, Ashley, Garrison, and Hettinger have had to travel to Bismarck to use the mannequins.  However, thanks to a grant earned by Bismarck State College, a new mobile simulation center will bring the mannequin and lab to them.

River Keepers “Reforesting the Red” (KVRR)

River Keepers is an advocacy group out of Fargo-Moorhead that focuses on “awareness, appreciation, and stewardship of the Red River” while promoting usage and development along the river corridor. On Wednesday, 450 area students helped River Keepers planted trees along the Red to help protect the banks from erosion and beautify the area.

An update: Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands, donates $10,000 to the Great Plains Food Bank (Grand Forks Herald)

Remember this story?  According to the Great Plains Food Bank, All Within My Hands also made a financial donation of $30,000 that will ultimately fund 30,000 meals.
