‘A friend’ preserves “friendly, happy corner of Medora” (Bismarck Tribune)
Harold and Sheila Schafer spent most of their lives transforming Medora – by renovating properties such as the Rough Rider Hotel and Ferris Store, promoting the Medora Musical, and through a substantial donation to the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation – and did so from the front porch of their historic log cabin. Thanks to an anonymous financial donor and donated building services, Harold and Sheila’s cabin has been preserved. In addition to necessary exterior and window improvements, the floors have been replaced after the pipes burst last year. The donations equal approximately $50,000.
